The SonicWALL PRO 4100 area is divided into 2 different categories. These Categories are:

SonicWALL PRO 4100 Support Bundle - Basic firewall protection for small office networks with on-going support and firmware upgrades.

SonicWALL PRO 4100 Basic Firewall Bundle - Basic firewall protection for small office networks. 

How Firewall Licensing Works

One common mistake buyer's make is they buy the firewall based on the number of employees or users they have on the network.  This may be accurate to a certain degree but the firewall's licensing is actually based on the total numbers of devices on your network that need to access the Internet.

Devices Include:

• Desktop computers
• Servers
• Laptops
• Handheld devices
• and any other devices that will access the Internet

Optional Add-On Security Services

A powerful feature of the SonicWALL PRO series is that you can add special security services to enhance your network security.  Most subscription are either 1,2 or 3 years long and do need to be renewed to continue receiving the security service.  These services include:

• Gateway Antivirus - The firewall will block viruses at the perimeter of the network before it reaches any users or servers on the network.
• Spyware Protection - Will detect, block and alert you in the event a user tries to download an application with a spyware bug.  In addition, it can also detect if a user has spyware install on their computer when it tries to broadcast information to the Internet.
• Intrusion Prevention - Used to protect your servers that can be accessed from users on the Internet.  This would include email, Web and FTP servers.  
• Content Filtering - Gives you control over the type of websites your users can view on the Internet.
• Firewall Configuration and Training Service - Up to four hours of one-on-one training with a Certified Engineer to configure your FW and train your staff.  
• Desktop & Server Virus Protection - Protects your network servers and desktops from viruses being installed on the local network.
• Technical Support Services - Provides technical support, firmware upgrades and hardware warranty services.

Upgrades for the PRO 4100

To help protect your initial investment in the firewall SonicWALL has made special upgrades available.  The upgrades are a one-time purchase and do not need to be renewed.  These upgrades include:

• VPN Client Licenses - As you allow more people to access your network remotely you can purchase additional client licenses so they can connect.
• ViewPoint Reporting - Enables enhanced logging and reporting of the Internet usage on your network.

Which Do You Choose?

All of the PRO 4100 firewalls are bundled with the Support package. So when choosing a PRO 4100, it is based on the number of users that will be supported.  Support - Designed not only to keep your security infrastructure current, but also to react swiftly to any problem that may occur.
